Colorado / Utah/ Nevada Days 47- 61

What an adventure this has been!
The weather over this past section has had some serious ups & downs... downs as in 9 degree lows & lots of snow when we were planning on crossing the rocky mountains.

Denver/Boulder- it was great seeing some old high school and college friends the night we spent in Denver.
We stayed at our family friends house for Halloween week in Boulder :) Resting up, getting our bikes repaired and spending endless hours figuring out a plan to get across the rockies.
Trick o' treating with our family friends/hosts Ian, Anja, Brooke, Alexi in Boulder!!

Celebrating Halloween with Hawaii friends!

The Rocky Mountains- Having lived in Boulder for 2 years and experiencing the unpredictable weather in the mountains, we were not confident that we could safely cross over the great divide due to the entire week forecasting snow.

We played it smart, avoiding frostbite and the potential of getting caught in the middle of a snow storm. So we decided to grab a ride across the Rocky Mountain section.
SO GLAD WE DID. Sections of the route we would've biked on during that week got 24-42 inches of snow, and temps in the single digits.

Utah- Wow. This place is an adventurers paradise. Utah might have won the award for most beautiful state we've biked in.
Meeting Dad in Moab, he signed up to be our RV SAG wagon vehicle. Which made it possible to bike through, hike around and experience most of the major national parks. AMAZING. Highly recommend visiting Utah.
Zion was probably our favorite. Definitely want to go back and spend more time exploring these National Parks.

Nevada-
From exciting and scenic Utah we said bye to dad and hello to desolate Nevada.
As we got closer to Nevada's border, we noticed our route had 80-180 miles sections with no hotels or services. This was a huge dilemma.
Nevada was forecasting 40-50 degree highs(not bad) but 9-20 degree lows (very bad) haha. Our sleeping bags can handle 30 degrees temps, so we were not down to camp in 9 degrees.

Weighing out all our options
1) Going down south to LA & up the pacific coast taking atleast another week to finish
2) Renting a Uhaul to SAG wagon eachother, take turns biking during the day to get through those desolate sections
3) camping in 9 degrees and dying

We chose option 2. Also due to the fact mom starts work back up in the beggining of december (bummer. I guess reality is starting to hit us... we cant bike around the world forever)
Love this pic. In Utah, a few miles before Nevada.

First night in Nevada. Tried camping in 20 degrees.... so cold we woke up at 4:30am & had to get warm asap!!!!

Inching our way to California.... STOKED FOR THE HOME STRETCH AND TO SEE FAMILY & FRIENDS SOON :)
