Last blog post (trip summary & California stretch)

Some knowledge and life lessons we learned from this journey that we thought would be worth sharing:

On our last few days of this trip, one conversation we had together was to name something we had learned and taken away from these past 2+ months.

1) Trusting
Staying in complete strangers homes, city parks, cities we never heard of, took a lot of trust. And what we learned was that there are more people out there who are accepting, welcoming and trusting than those who are not.
Having lived in highly populated fast paced cities, people can seem so closed off, and wrapped up in their own needs.

If you give people the time of day and are genuinely more welcoming & trusting, they will reciprocate. You will meet so many more amazing people and experience their warm heart if you aren't initially judgmental and closed off.

"The way we see the world is the way we experience the world."

2) Less is more
Something we learned very quickly was that you do not need much to be happy.
Living out of a couple bags, sleeping bag and tent in every type of climate, surprisingly, we did not need much to survive and fully experience the U.S..
We have already gone through all of our belongings since coming home. The less you have it seems like the more you can be grateful and focus on the important, non material, things in life.

3) Be passionate about every single thing you do.

We met a wide variety of people who each had extremely different backgrounds, ways of life, and remarkable stories to share.
It inspired us how passionate people were about the things they did in their lives, from their every day jobs to small hobbies.

...Words can't begin to describe the other amazing things we learned throughout this journey.

To everyone who kept us motivated, and donated to our fundraiser these past couple months, thank you :)
Beautiful time riding around Tahoe and spending time with great family friends in Northern California. It was very eerie arriving back and riding through SF in the smoke from the Paradise fire.
Our thoughts are with all of the fire victims, survivors, and the volunteers/firefighters

It's important to continually challenge yourself, take a big risk every once in a while & step outside of your comfort zone!
