Days 28-32 Brandenburg, KT to Marion, IL (229 miles)
Day 28: Brandenburg, KT to Lewisburg, KT (56 miles)
•Crossed over a time zone!!
•Most elevation we've climbed in a day! •Rewarded with a stellar sunset :)
Day 29 & 30 Lewisburg, KT to Henderson, KT ( 50 miles) & off day:
Short and flat ride for Day 29. Expected thunderstorms for Day 30 so we decided to take the day off and stay in Henderson. Turns out it didn't even rain at all, was nice to rest for a day though :)
Dinner at this awesome Country store/diner!
Day 31 Henderson, KT to Cave-in-rock, Illinois ( 63 miles)
Made it to illinois!! Goodbye Kentucky fried food, our bodies and cholesterol levels took a serious hit from you haha.
Cold front has hit!! From a humid 87 degrees yesterday, the high today was in the 50s. And supposed to be in the 30s when we wake up tomorrow.
Camping at Cave-in-rock state park inside Shawnee National Forest.
Amazing stargazing night, built a small little campfire listened to the coyotes howling in the distance.
Day 32 Cave-in-rock, IL to Marion, IL (60 miles)
Highlight of the day: started the morning off with an awesome hike to the 'Cave-in-Rock'
After that, things didnt go so awesome haha
•Majority of our ride was on gravel roads = slow & bumpy
