First flat/ Camping Days 8-11 Philly - Gettysburg (138 miles)
Day 8-
Off day in Philly. Checked out Independence Hall & The Liberty Bell. In awe of the amount of U.S. history there is in Pennsylvania.
Day 9- Valley Forge (48 miles)
Biked through valley forge, one of the most gorgeous plots of untouched land I've ever seen.
First flat tire of our trip!! Victim: Mom.
10 miles before our warm showers destination for the evening (Thanks again Sue! Hope we will all cross paths again in the near future), mom got a flat pulling into Dunkin Donuts for a water break. 2 of the employees were super nice and handed us a free bag of donut holes while we changed the tire haha. "If something bad happens, something good will come of it."
Ultimately though, during this 3 day battle over 46,000 soldiers died. Apparently there are over 30 different ghost tours offered in this town. We'll pass. Camping in the battlefield is enough for us tonight haha.
(Dinner: Mac&Cheese,Spam,Onions, Mississippi Mud)

I'm starting to feel and figure out why people enjoy biking as a hobby so much. It gives you an entire different perspective and view of the scenery versus being in a car or plane. It slows you down just enough so you can see and feel every thing around you. Whether its feeling each crack and bump on the road or seeing the animals and fields on your sides, everything seems a bit more enhanced.
Day 10: Amish Country (43 miles)
We spent all of today's ride going through Amish Country. Major culture shock going from NYC & Philly to these small towns made up of families that only ride horses or bikes, and farm their own crops.
Day 11: Camping in Gettysburg (48 Miles)
Tonight we're camping on the exact location of where the Battle of Gettysburg was fought. For a brief reminder from 8th grade History class, this battle was the turning point in the American Civil War giving the Union the edge over the Confederates.Ultimately though, during this 3 day battle over 46,000 soldiers died.
